BLUE Piling Technology
BLUE Piling Technology (patented) is a revolutionary new technology for driving large piles offshore. The technology breaks with the tradition of using increasingly larger impact hammers to drive piles offshore and instead utilizes what is abundantly available offshore… water! Energy for driving the pile is created with a gas combustion that accelerates a large column of water. The BLUE Hammer consists of a large water tank that contains an open combustion chamber. Energy for driving the pile is created with a gas combustion that accelerates a large column of water as shown here.
Each phase of the piling cycle is explained in more detail in the illustration below. The combustion of a gas mixture under the water column leads to a pressure increase. This pressure creates both an upwards acceleration of the water and a downwards force that pushes the pile into the seabed. Making smart use of gravity, another powerful downward blow is delivered to the pile when the water mass falls back down. After release of the exhaust gases the cycle is repeated.
The nature of the mechanism ensures quiet piling and the absence of moving parts makes the BLUE Hammer very robust. Find out which advantages BLUE Piling Technology offers here. Watch the videos below to learn more about BLUE Piling Technology and to see the hammer in action.
